Laser Anal Fissure Removal
Book a consultation
An anal fissure is a defect in the wall of the anal canal in the form of a tear. Despite its small size, this condition causes discomfort and pain for the patient. Moreover, over time, the defect can widen and deepen, and may involve the sphincter.
The condition can be:
- acute – the fissure formed within the last month;
- chronic – the fissure has existed for a long time, with alternating periods of exacerbation and remission.
Causes
Chronic constipation is the most common cause of anal fissures. Other significant factors in the development of this condition may include various anal injuries, hemorrhoids, childbirth, poor hygiene, physical strain, and disorders accompanied by diarrhea.
Symptoms:
- pain that intensifies during bowel movements;
- bleeding or traces of blood after a bowel movement.
Diagnosis
The presence of an anal fissure is determined by a proctologist during an examination. If a rectal fissure is suspected, the presence of a mucosal defect can be identified through a digital examination, anoscopy, or videorectoscopy.
Treatment methods
Treatment usually begins with the use of healing ointments, suppositories, sitz baths, and dietary adjustments.
Excision of an anal fissure, including with the use of a laser, is indicated in cases where conservative methods are ineffective. During the surgical procedure, the scarred edges and the base of the anal fissure are excised to create conditions for its fastest possible healing.
The modern laser fissure removal technique makes it possible to effectively eliminate the problem and make the patient’s rehabilitation period as comfortable as possible.
